Dimly lit interior of the Moth & Thread boutique: racks of vintage garments under low, warm light.

Nothing here is new — that is the point.

Nothing here is new.

Every garment on this rail has already outlived its trend cycle. We grade it by hand, mend it in the room behind you, write down where it came from — and only then put it back on the rail.

Instruments.

Three surfaces from our cataloguing desk, running the same logic our archivists do: authenticate the era, measure the garment, book the drop. They cycle here on a loop, exactly as they do in the back room.

03 — Manifesto

Fast fashion asks: What is trending?

We ask: What is enduring?

A garment that lasts thirty years is not a product. It is a decision — someone chose to buy well, wear it hard, and mend it rather than replace it. We collect the ones that were decided well, and we keep the record straight: what it is, when it was made, what has been done to it since.

  • Graded by hand, twice

Two archivists grade independently. Where they disagree, the lower grade stands and the reason is written down.

  • Mended, never disguised

Repairs are visible on purpose. A seam we stitched is part of the garment's history, not something to hide.

  • Provenance written down

Every piece leaves with a dossier: era, grade, measurements, repairs — and where we found it.

Sliding a garment
along a rail.

Three pieces currently off-rail. They stack the way a full rail does — each one falling back a step as the next arrives, until only the one in your hands is sharp.

No. 0412
1974 Type III Trucker

Denim so dry it sounds like paper when you fold it. Two hand-mended seams at the left cuff, original Talon pull, no pitting to the shank buttons. It came in from a house clearance in Cluj.

1962 Harris Tweed Overcoat

Hand-woven on the Outer Hebrides, heavy enough to stand up on its own. Four small repairs to the lining, all done in matching thread. The label is intact, which for a coat of this age is the difference between a garment and a document.
